We have studied the physics of organic materials.
Our current subjects are as follows:

  1. Study of the working mechanism of organic solar cells and the development of new organic solar cells.
    (Organic solar cells using metal phthalocyanines, Organometal halide perovskite solar cells, Non-fullerene organic photovoltaics using a thiophene/phenylene co-oligomer as a donor material, P3HT/PCBM nanoparticle-based organic photovoltaics)
  2. Development of new light-emitter based on fluorescnence resonance energy transfer (Energy transfer between ZnO nanoparticels and organic molecules, Energy transfer in thin films of conductive polymer/porphyrin)
  3. Optical properties of metal mirror microcavities containing organic semiconductors
    ËWe have investigated the optical properties of the cavity polaritons to realize laser devices using the organic functional materials.
  4. Light amplification properties of organic materials
    ËWe have investigated the light amplification properties using the energy transfer in the thin films composed of the organic and inorganic/organic hybrid materials.
  5. Biosensors using GaN ring microcavities (with Prof. Hsu, Shin-Chieh (Roy Hsu) @Tamkang University)
  6. Study of the magnetism of molecular crystals

œ Open Campus was held at Shimane University on August 5. Dr. Mizuno performed experiments on dye-sensitized solar cells.

œ We participated in The 5th Education and Research Workshop of Electronic Devices, Circuits, Illuminations, and Systems which was held at Hiroshima Institute of Technology on May 27. (Mizuno, Nasu)

œ Dr. Mizuno stayed at University of Cagliari for a month as a visiting professor.
œ Mr. Hirano departed to University of Southern Denmark for study abroad. He will perform a research on organic photovoltaic cells.

œ The 10th Workshop for Refreshing Science in the Classroom was held at Shimane University on November 27. Dr. Mizuno was assigned the experiments on "Light scattering by a water-based wax" and "Basic electric motor".

œ Dr. Mizuno gave a research presentation in Japan and China International Seminar which was held at Shimane University on October 16. (consecutive interpretation in Chinese)

œ Dr. Mizuno went to Waikato Institute of Technology (Wintec) which is located in New Zealand using a Staff Training Program in Shimane University. (July 30 - September 30)
œ Dr. Mizuno conducted a research presentation entitled "Characterization of Zinc Phthalocyanine-Based Thin Film Photovoltaics" at Wintec on September 13.
œ Dr. Mizuno gave a lecture on "Friction" at Wintec on September 15.
